'FAQ: Aren't You Starving?'
The highlight of the week was learning that I'd lost 7 lbs during my first two weeks of Commit To Fit! Such a strong, positive first result definitely left me feeling empowered. Though I'm not exactly holding my breath waiting for this week's weigh-in result; I think maybe I ate a little too "free" this weekend if you know what I mean.

website to help me stay on track with my intake and exercise numbers. I like that it helps me figure out what I should have for dinner. For example, tonight I had several servings of "grains and starches" and "very lean meats" available after my afternoon snack, so I had sushi for dinner. Pretty much several nigiri pieces and a veggie roll, but it was perfect to balance out my meals for the day. I don't think I need to stick to the numbers as closely as I am currently doing, but I am enjoying the challenge...and I know from experience that I will be able to more easily change my habits by sticking pretty close to a "plan." In other words, taking the numbers super seriously is right for me
. For now.
My workouts with Billy at DIAKADI are continuing to go well. I am finding that the stretches and exercises only seem to get easier the more I do them. However, on Thursday I got frustrated while learning some new exercises that I'm finding to be pretty hard. I got quiet and Billy noticed, encouraging me to talk about it. I didn't want to talk about it because I just wanted to move forward and try to do better at the next thing. I emailed Billy about it afterwards because I wanted him to understand that I am going to put a lot more pressure on myself than he probably will. We had a really good exchange about it. I thanked Billy for his patience, dedication, professionalism and encouragement. I've decided I am going to work on dialing back that self-imposed pressure a notch...we'll see how that goes.
Today was the kickoff of this year's Sunday Streets program here in the city. If you don't know what that is, you need to check it out: http://www.sundaystreetssf.com/
Basically the city opens up the streets for pedestrian and bike traffic (and rollerblading, etc, and apparently piano-biking, as I saw a guy pedaling a piano around today, playing it as he went along. Only in San Francisco, people!) So it's fun to explore a section of the city on foot, and not be all annoyed by the noise and pollution of cars. I went for a walk with my best friend along the waterfront and it felt really good. We walked about 1.8 miles, and I'd walked another 1.4 miles earlier in the day, so I guess I walked more than 3 miles today...go me! (Cardio can be fun.)
