The Fitness Court is a designated location for the NFC promoting good health practices and encouraging people to live an active lifestyle.

Location: Marina Green Fitness Court at Webster Street.

The NFC invented the Fitness Court in 1979 and in 1982, SF Mayor Diane Feinstein stated, "I think every mayor should support this." Over the next seven years the campaign opened more than 10,000 Fitness Courts in cities and towns all across America. In 2010, the original founder, Mitch Menaged, returned to reimagine the campaign with leading designers and fitness innovators. By promoting this new court, the campaign hopes to build additional courts throughout the city!

This workshop is an introduction to the NFC’s free outdoor sports and fitness training system. In this 1.5-hour session you’ll be introduced to the Fitness Court, learn the principles behind the 7-station body weight methodology, and gain the NFC’s Authorized Trainer certification.

The Workshop Will Cover:

  • Core Engagement
  • Functional Movement
  • Compound Exercises
  • Body Weight Exercise
  • Adaptability & Accessibility
  • Progression & Variability
  • Periodization/Interval Training
  • Vertical Circuit Training
  • Assessments & Periodic Testing
