If you do what you’ve always done, you’ll get what you’ve always gotten.
— Tony Robbins

I grew up in Montana backcountry skiing, riding road bikes and trail running. After a collegiate career swimming and playing water polo at Dartmouth, I imported my love of sports and the outdoors to the Bay Area, adding surfing to the mix. It was during this period I realized that in order to stay injury-free and perform well doing the activities that I love, strength training needed to become an important part of my life. I created MountainFit SF to offer sport-specific, strength-based training programs with an emphasis on mobility and corrective exercise so the individuals I work with can always get outside and perform at their personal best. I work with individuals of all levels - those looking to run their first 5k or keep up with their kids on the ski slopes to those looking to improve their performance at the competitive level.

I believe that “fitness” and “health” include more than simply time exercising. Sleep, diet, and stress are also important aspects that are taken into consideration when developing a comprehensive training program.

In my down time, you can find me riding my road bike in Marin, catching waves on the coast, or planning my next backcountry ski trip.

Jenna has truly changed my life. I was a Division 1 All American athlete before my knees completely fell apart, and was told by multiple doctors, physical therapists, sports psychologists and others to give up on my hopes of getting myself back into competition-level shape again. Thirteen years after my last collegiate lacrosse game and after a particularly long ski season, I wasn’t able to walk well or pedal my bike. Training with Jenna has allowed me to get to a place where I can ski all winter, bike throughout the year and participate in the many other activities that used to cause pain. I feel the best I’ve felt in my own body in years, and have regained my sense of myself as an athlete throughout her fun, always-fresh and consistently challenging workouts.

Jenna has a keen sense for what her clients need, and her determination to help her clients understand how to take care of their bodies inside and outside the gym truly help her stand apart from the many, many fitness professionals with whom I’ve worked. She’s never rushed, gives you her full attention, and approaches her job with professionalism and rigor.

I had done strength training a few times before but it has never been as approachable, fun, and goal-focused as my time with Jenna. My favorite thing about Jenna is how focused she is on form and teaching precise movement techniques. I think about how to organize my body movements all the time now, whether in the gym or on a run or on the slopes (I honestly feel like she’s going to help me avoid random injuries). Also, on those mornings when it feels impossible, Jenna is just the person you want by your side to make you laugh, be silly, and race through your time together.

I’ve done strength training off-and-on for years, but I have always struggled with back pain that kept me from feeling confident with heavier weights or certain kinds of exercise. Jenna’s focus on form and mobilization has helped me make great progress, without getting hurt. I’m skiing better than ever and avoiding the kind of lower-back pain that would derail me in the past.
