I grew up a curious and playful kid in Mexico, always questioning everything and making an adventure out of mundane tasks. I was no athlete, but I never hesitated on an opportunity to play and have fun. This got me into trouble more than once but it also shaped how I look at my life, one opportunity after another, a chance to explore new possibilities.
To me movement and health are about possibilities, exploring new and better ways of facing life's challenges and building resilience for a better life.
When I started out, my goal was to be competent in all forms of health and movement. No small feat considering the variety of disciplines that exist all over the world. "What could I do with this body?" "What will I be able to do if I take care of it?" These questions and many more drove me to seek out the top teachers and health and movement educators. I've learned that the questions are as important as the answer, and more importantly that "it depends."
Along the way I realized that I have to question my own goal "Why move at all?" I quickly realized that what motivated was not to be movement generalist, but to have the same freedom and curiosity from my childhood.

For years the "no pain, no gain" mentality has cast a big shadow of guilt and shame over all things fitness. I constantly hear how people say they hate exercising, but I've never heard anyone say they hate having fun. Which is more sustainable? Why must they be separate things?
This radically shifted my focus into what it is today, I have made it my life's work to bridge intentful training with playful movement.
