As a personal trainer, Derrick's goal is to impart the knowledge and skills to lead a healthy, vital life in a sustainable method. His formal education began with chemistry and biology, but evolved into exercise physiology and biomechanics; he has always been fascinated in how the body works and functions. Derrick applies his knowledge to clients’ training program to figure out what exercises are very effective and efficient in promoting change, reaching goals, and getting results.

Derrick enjoys working with clients at all different levels of fitness, from post physical therapy to elite athletes, from all different age groups, young teenagers, baby boomers and 65+, with all different types of restrictions from diabetes to low back pain. Everyone starts out with an assessment to identify how their body is working and then a personalized program is developed based on the results and goals. With beginners and people starting to work out again he uses corrective stretching/exercises to rebalance the body; guiding clients through their program and having them feel their body work and achieve new fitness goals. 

Derrick's uses a interdisciplinary approach, looking at all aspects of health to achieve help his clients achieve their wellness and performance goals.
