Elaine’s Mission

“To be a practitioner of health & fitness, empower others with the connection of mind, body & spirit to achieve optimal health and well-being, and giving to our community everywhere possible.”

I strive to bring awareness of tried and true techniques, coaching unique individuals to achieve realistic-holistic health & fitness goals. Elaine inspires through encouragement, compassion, and commitment.

Lifelong Passion

Beyond a private practice, Elaine reaches out to the community; offering outdoor group exercise classes; managing health promotion programs for non-profits; working with other medical professionals; and coaching youth fitness programs.

Elaine was born in Caracas, Venezuela.  She has lived in Saudi Arabia, Washington State, Wisconsin, Missouri, & Kansas, before settling in San Francisco in 2002. Elaine’s fitness developed from an early age, as she participated in multiple sports, competed in the Junior Olympics as a swimmer, and received a full scholarship to play Division II college basketball.  During her sports career, however, Elaine had to overcome various injuries; fractures, herniated discs, and sprains to name a few.  Elaine’s experience in healing her own body led her to work with physical therapists at Presidio Sport & Medicine where she assisted clients with post-rehabilitation exercises, while becoming certified as a personal trainer in 2005.

Then in 2008, she held the position of Health & Fitness Manager at the 30th Street Senior Center, a program of OnLok, Inc., where she expanded two city-wide fitness & health education programs to over 1,000 older adults living in San Francisco. During the summer, Elaine is the fitness coach at the Azzi Camp, a youth basketball camp in Marin County.  Elaine is also a boot camp coach and owner of “Workout on the Hill” in Bernal Heights, since 2004.  In 2011, Elaine suffered herniated and bulging discs of her lumbar spine, and through holistic exercise and lifestyle changes, she recovered without surgery!  She has transformed her body for physique competition, and has a passion to help you heal from injury, increase strength and vitality to have the body, health & well-being you dream of!

Elaine is downright AMAZING. She is the best trainer I have ever had - by far. She is completely dedicated to her clients’ total well-being, incredibly knowledgeable about the way the body works and very easy to work with. I have made tremendous progress with Elaine and absolutely love working with her.

Before I got to Elaine, I was diligently working out with another trainer but making no real progress and I wasn’t really that interested. It is hard not to care about your workouts with Elaine because she cares so much about you and the progress you are making. Everyday I come in there, she is present for me. She also makes it clear that it is not enough to take care of yourself by simply showing up at the gym. You also need to take home what she gives you. I have had 3 back surgeries and had pains all over the place, particularly in my back. I have been with Elaine for about 2 years and am now mostly pain free. I have also really ramped up my cycling and other activities, which I can do now.

She is a special one and I am very lucky to have stumbled upon her.

Elaine is an incredible trainer and healer. I’ve worked with her for several years now and I’m so glad I met her. I have a herniated disc in my lower back and she has been calm, dedicated, and very knowledgeable, as she works patiently with me and we continue my strength-building (physically and mentally). She has a PT background so even helped my partner when she sprained her ankle. Elaine has a generous spirit and a creative mind. Her knowledge about the body is amazing and she easily shows how to put this info to good use for exercises and stretches. Highly recommended!

As someone who has aggressively self-trained and been serious about fitness for most of my life, I have a high degree of skepticism towards most trainers. A few bad experiences further darkened my view of most personal trainers and services.

Then I met Elaine. For the last several years, she has been a guide and inspiration for my ongoing fitness and recovery programs. She’s a powerful and experienced athlete who has endured injury and recovery herself, and understands the physical and psychological dynamics at work in staying healthy. Elaine has consistently provided tailored programs to challenge me and keep me moving forward in a healthy and safe fashion. She knows bodies and what exercises will help bring the right kind of strength.

She’s not going to scream at you to bang out another set or rep. But she’s not going to let you off easy. She understands the difference between working hard and working too hard. I wish every coach and trainer I had in my life was as balanced and helpful as Elaine.

Regardless of your current level of conditioning, if you’re looking to be healthier and stronger, Elaine is highly recommended.
